Spicy Pan Fried Fish with Peppers
This Spicy Pan Fried Fish with Peppers is on our menu today. It’s a lovely cold day in Johannesburg, perfect for something spicy. I had a whole lot of peppers that needed to be used up so it was perfect for this dish.
Spicy Pan Fried Fish with Peppers
We haven’t had Kingklip in a while and there aren’t any in the major supermarkets. I came across this online store, Caught Online.
Although it was frozen fish we thought we will give it a try. I must say it didn’t disappoint. I was also impressed with the packaging and their efficiency.
I am usually wary of buying from new places. However, with the Virus spreading like it is we are hardly leaving our home.
Most of our food is bought online so this worked perfectly well for us. You would notice I don’t always give reviews on food. There are far too many products to review.
Although I must say I do have a few favorite things. I like supporting smaller businesses but I also appreciate good service. If the service is bad I definitely won’t go back.
Personally I feel there is no excuse for bad service. A customer is a customer and if he is paying then you need to treat him like he is your only customer.
We haven’t had Wifi now for almost 2 weeks and Afrihost who is our service provider has been totally disgusting with their service. It wouldn’t matter if we didn’t need it so desperately.
I have my son doing online shooling and my hubby is working from home. Our world revolves around technology these days. Thanks to Covid19.
Maybe I should start giving reviews on more than just food. One thing I can say is if you ever need Wifi please don’t go to Afrihost, you will regret your decision.
I don’t like giving negative reviews but when the Managers and CEO blatantly disregards a customer’s complaint I have no respect for that organisation.
We have signed up with someone new so wish us luck. Let me get back to my Spicy Pan Fried Fish with Peppers Recipe.
This fish recipe is so delicious. I remember eating a similar dish once, a long time ago at a restaurant. It was the most delicious fish I ate. Mine is not exactly the same but still tastes amazing.
How to make the Spicy Pan Fried Fish with Peppers
Firstly, the kingklip we purchased was quite thick so I cut them down the middle so that I could have thinner pieces. My husband loves kingklip but I am not a huge fan. I prefer a less firm white fish.
Not that it’s bad, it’s just my personal preference. To get the most flavor I like to fry my fish first and use the same pan to cook the pepper, tomatoes and onion. It really is quick and easy to make.
I fried my fish in a pan, about 3 minutes on each side. Although I did cut mine in half it was still fairly thick. Depending on the thickness of the fish you may need to adjust the cooking time.
Please ensure you never overcook your fish. Nothing worse than eating overcooked fish. Fish can be a little tricky to cook. But remember most fish only takes a couple of minutes on each side
How to serve the fish
I served this fish with creamy mashed potatoes and a side salad. You can serve it with some spicy rice and more veggies if you wish.
You can also add some cream to the pepper, tomato topping if you want a rich and creamy sauce.
