You will be licking those fingers. You have to try these Spicy Sticky Baked Chicken Wings to believe me. Or ask my 12-year-old, he certainly couldn’t get enough of it. He is a wing lover of note.

I think I will have to hide some away so his brother gets to taste it…Lol! I don’t usually use a whole lot of bottled stuff in my recipes. But this recipe is an exception.

If you’re one of those health conscious ones then make it on your cheat day. That way you won’t feel so guilty. They are seriously addictive.

Once you take your first bite you won’t be able to stop. Unlike my previous Light and Crispy Chicken Wing recipe this one is not fried but baked. So see there is a plus side to it.

 

Spicy Wings

I know some say spicy but their spicy and mine may not be the same. If I say spicy then you’ve got to taste the spice. Please don’t tell me spicy and all you taste is a dash of pepper.

Here you are guaranteed to get spicy if I say it is. If you can’t take the heat you can reduce the hot sauce and leave out the chilli flakes. But let’s just say it won’t be the same.

Cooking the Wings

You know how much I love quick cooking. These wings literally take just over 30 minutes to cook. It’s placed on a tray and popped in the oven and you can relax. 

Ok not exactly relax. You have to baste it from time to time and flip them over half way through. But that I call minimal effort.

So what are you waiting for. Go ahead and make those wings.

Finger-licking good chicken wings. You will be making these wings every chance you get

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken wings cut in half at joint
  • 2 large cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Sauce (optional)

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  • Place the chicken wings in a bowl. Mix all the ingredients for the marinade
  • Mix the marinade into the chicken wings and refrigerate for 2 hours
  • Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Line a large baking tray with parchment/baking paper
  • Place the wings in a single layer on the tray and bake for 30-35 minutes. Baste the chicken at regular intervals, with the sauce
  • Halfway through cooking, turn the wings over

Sauce (optional)

  • Place a pan on medium heat. Add all the ingredients for the sauce and stir until the sugar dissolves. Once the wings are baked toss it in the sauce
  • You don't have to use the sauce, it is total optional

Notes

  1. If you don't like spicy you can leave out the chilli flakes and the hot sauce or reduce it
  2. You can turn the grill function on in the last few minutes and allow the chicken to brown a little more
  3. The wings are delicious with or without the sauce so it is totally optional
