Mini Chicken Sausage Rolls

Quick and easy chicken sausage rolls and kid friendly too.

  • 1 x 400 gram frozen ready rolled puff pastry
  • 500 gram chicken mince
  • 1 small onion grated
  • 1&1/2 tspn ginger/garlic paste
  • 1 tspn chilli powder (optional)
  • 1 tspn ground cumin
  • 1&1/2 tspn ground coriander
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 spring onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 tspn salt
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • sesame seeds


  • Preheat Oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Allow the pastry to thaw but should still remain cold. Beat the egg and set aside
  • In a large bowl mix the chicken mince together with all the spices, spring onion, grated onion, ginger/garlic paste, cheese and panko breadcrumbs. Season with salt
  • Unroll the pastry and cut into two halves. Divide the mixture between the two pastry pieces, spreading it in the middle, lengthwise, and just pat mixture with your hands to make a cylinder shape.
  • Brush one edge with the egg. Fold the pastry over and press the edges together. Roll the pastry over so the edge is tucked under
  • Cut the pastry into 10 pieces each or however large or small you prefer
  • Brush with the egg and sprinkle sesame seeds over
  • Bake in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 15-20 minutes or until pastry golden brown and crisp
  • Do not overbake as chicken tends to dry out. Remove from oven as soon as it's cooked


  1. If you making them for adults you can make them slightly largerĀ 
  2. You can add some chilli and fresh coriander to the mixture
  3. If you don't have sesame seeds it's totally okay without them
  4. I used store bought pastry but if you okay with making your own pastry go for it
  5. You can freeze the sausage rolls on a baking sheet and once frozen you can store them in ziplock bags. That way that won't stick together
  6. When baked from frozen may take a few extra minutes to bake
