Homemade Hot Chocolate
It’s a cold, rainy day in Johannesburg and that calls for hot drinks, movies and coziness. There’s nothing more comforting than Homemade Hot Chocolate with some real chocolate, cocoa, milk and a dollop of cream.
My family loved it. This is definitely a decadent drink, not something that I can indulge in often. It is so delicious though that it’s hard to resist.
Homemade Hot Chocolate
What milk should I use?
I suggest using full cream milk if you really want to make a super delicious hot chocolate. If you’re drinking hot chocolate it may as well be good or stick to herbal tea…haha!
But feel free to use low fat or skim milk, it’s your drink after all!
When heating the milk I suggest you stand right at the stove and keep a close eye on it. The milk shouldn’t boil, should be just heated enough to dissolve the cocoa powder and chocolate
Cocoa and Chocolate
This Homemade Hot chocolate has cocoa and chocolate, making it totally irresistable. My kids were certainly in heaven. A good quality chocolate is always best.
My preference is Lindt dark chocolate but you can use milk chocolate if you’re not into dark chocolate. Chocolate chips, that some of us always have in our pantry, can also work
I added a dollop of whipped cream on top which added some extra creaminess to it. The cocoa and chocolate makes this hot chocolate pretty rich.
It can feed 4 people because you just need small cups of it, however if you want a whole big mug it will probably feed 2.
Sugar
You definitely can’t have hot chocolate without it being a little sweet. However, you can adjust the sugar according to your taste. I think the amount I added was just enough but you can reduce or increase the amount
Theres’s not much else you need to know about making a Homemade Hot Chocolate. It’s so easy to make. So what are you waiting for, go make some Hot Chocolate!
If you’re not into Hot Chocolate my friend Sonila from Mediterranean Latin Love Affair has an amazing Recipe for Homemade Latte with Whipped Coffee.
